Texas wide receiver Quan Cosby had nine catches for 122 yards on Saturday as Texas beat Oklahoma, but my favorite of his plays came when he didn’t have the ball.

With Texas trailing Oklahoma 35-30 midway through the fourth quarter, Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy hit wide receiver Jordan Shipley streaking down the middle of the field. Cosby was deep downfield along the left sideline, and most receivers at that point would have stopped and watched. But Cosby showed that he isn’t most receivers:

That was Cosby drilling Oklahoma safety Lendy Holmes with a textbook-perfect open-field block. BevoSports.com says it was the play that had Texas fans up out of their seats screaming the loudest.

I’ve heard mixed opinions about the draft prospects of Cosby, a 5-foot-11 senior. But that’s the kind of play that NFL coaches love.
